… since first weekly measurement on 2011-07-07, i.e. after three weeks.

… oh and the very first number was an estimate after the first measurement on the scale. Leftmost date is 2011-07-02, rightmost is today.PS: 6.3 kg is approx. 13.9 lbs
PPS: I have meanwhile trimmed the graph and left only the numbers from my morning weigh-ins and had to correct the overall loss in this post.
Just did a workout that deserves that name. 150 x 25 m in 121 min. I know, I know this may not seem very fast, but it’s already a huge improvement in speed but most importantly in stamina. Admittedly I had one forced break under 10 sec, though … as a guy I met before started to talk to me during the turn 🙄
After it, I soaked for 10-15 min in the hot pot. Basically all pools in Reykjavík come with a hot pot. So if you pay a visit to Iceland, make sure to go to one of the public pools. Coincidentally I had the chance for a little smalltalk with a few Russians who joined me in the hot pot at the time
… my Russian is quite rusty now (I was slightly embarrassed).
After the hot pot I found that something else had been soaking as well. My towel had been dropped by someone. Since the floor is completely wet it was unusable. Luckily I was able to borrow one from the reception. They also do it for money, but I didn’t have any on me and they told me not to worry when I asked whether it was okay to bring the money tomorrow or on Friday.
Over and out,

PS: the improvement is from 120 x 25 m in 99 min on last Sunday. Which I had tried to repeat on Monday, when I got a cramp at about 113.5 laps.
Turns out this server and along with it approximately 64k IP addresses are blocked from editing Wikipedia, because apparently some customers of Hetzner – my hoster – run open proxies.
I appealed the block and will have to see what comes off it.
Update: I wish I hadn’t asked. Of course it was “reviewed” and declined. My guess, if spammers or vandals would only spread their IP ranges enough, at some point some “admin” (admins are normally there to facilitate work, not to hinder it) would actually block 127.0.0.1/0.

The calm reactions of the Norwegians and the thoughtful statements from officials – not jumping to conclusions prematurely – is truly admirable. It shows that despite the gruesome acts committed one does not have to point fingers before knowing enough details.
It’s impressive on so many levels. While news commentators were already speculating about connections with some kind of Muslim fundamentalists, the police and other officials decided to wait for facts.
Sincere condolences to the families of the victims.

PS: for my US-American reader(s?), Google says: 3.8 kg ≅ 8.4 lbs 😉
PPS: corrected values. This is since the first “official” measurement on 2011-07-07 (before breakfast, as every Thursday since then). The 3.8 was due to me wrongly picking the first measurement right after buying the scale in the evening of the Wednesday before.
Es fehlen in Deutschland also “qualifizierte Fachkräfte”.

Guten Appetit!

I don’t think so. I have a record calorie deficit (net amount > 4000 kcal) today and I have no intention of reducing it 😛 … okay maybe I will. But only a little 😀
Update: actually 2011-07-17 was my new record -5012 kcal (net) due to excessive exercises in combination with the planned deficit.
😛
PS: corrected from 2.8 to 2.5 to reflect the status change since first weekly measurement.
Damn, I did it again. Went swimming and now I still have the C25K (day 2, week 2) ahead of me, because I slacked the entire day yesterday (i.e. 12th of July)
If I survive the C25K I’ll update this post. If not, let me die without a runner’s nipple
Did about ten headers (the shoulder is fine – I thought I cracked my spine at one point, but I’m still not paralyzed ;)) at the swimming pool, numerous more “bombs”. Met some Germans including a gorgeous girl who did a very elegant header from the 2.75 m board … okay, there were other (physically) attractive girls too, but she had proper charisma. At fifty kilos less I could have dared to ask her out 😥

I adapted the recipe here to my needs. The original author does not seem to use sauerkraut, but I only know it with sauerkraut and a Polish colleague confirmed that Kapuśniak requires sauerkraut. Alas, here’s the recipe adjusted by me.
Kapuśniak
Preparation time: 30 Minuten
Cooking time: 40 Minuten
Ingredients for 4 portions

Continue reading
Of course I don’t have really comprehensive numbers, but the only three official numbers for my weight I have so far have the following deltas: 0 kg, -0.9 kg, +1.0 kg … 😥 … despite the steady calorie deficit. I’ll blame it on the hydration and will look forward to some long term numbers.

Update: a few hours later, a long swim and a walk (but also a müsli and 1.5l fluid later) the weight dropped by 0.6 kg again. I’m confused.
Udo Kier for the win. The first movie I saw this guy in was “Queen of the Damned”, the one I liked most with him was “Mark of the Devil”.
And now this. Have been following the progress some time back and remembered it recently. Turns out a few German actors were cast (coincidence, of course ;)). It’s set for April 2012. I’m looking forward to it.
It’s advertised as a comedy. And it picks up the myth of the space nazis with their flying saucers

Skyr may be used in a traditional Icelandic dish called hræringur (meaning “stirred” or “made by stirring”) which consists of roughly equal amounts of skyr and porridge. It is often mixed with jam or fruit for a dessert, or with cereals for breakfast. Children often like sugar sprinkled on top. It will keep without refrigeration, making it a good high-protein food to take on a trip.
(Source: Wikipedia)
Tried it myself. 500g Skyr and approx. 600g porridge cooked with water last night.
The look is not very convincing (slightly more pale than the porridge), but who cares about the looks at such a high proteine content
… chopped a banana on top of a bowl full of it. Might go for honey or something similar the next few times.
