A recent article in the German computer magazine iX (April 2007) mentioned Rutkowska’s findings again so that I decided to review the tool, the driver, the accompanying research paper and the results. You can download the new results below. The most interesting findings were made by observing the values on Virtual PC 2007. For every operating system and every VMM tested the following constellations were considered: VMM tools installed or not installed with acceleration enabled or disabled respectively. For Virtual PC 2007 the acceleration was hardware virtualization.

Im Moment ist http://www.eckpfeiler.net, dessen Domainbesitzer sich offenbar entschieden hat sich von 1blu zu trennen, nicht mehr zu erreichen und man sieht eine wundervolle Nachricht, daß es sich um eine neue Internetpräsenz (bei 1blu) handele. auch nach mehreren Aufforderungen konnten wir leider noch keinen Zahlungseingang für unsere Rechnung(en) feststellen. Auch eine Antwort auf unsere Nachricht haben wir nicht erhalten.
Das mit der ausgebliebenen Antwort kann ich nicht ganz nachvollziehen, da ich ja an alle drei mir bekannten Emailadressen für die Rechnungsabteilung eine Mail mit einem Verweis auf meinen ersten Blogeintrag zu 1blu geschickt habe.

In Deutschland haben wir für unbeständiges Wetter ja den Ausdruck “Aprilwetter”. Hier auf Island kann man alle Facetten des Aprilwetters im Laufe eines einzigen Tages “geniessen”. Draußen hagelt’s? Kein Problem – einfach fünf Minuten warten und es regnet stattdessen oder es scheint die Sonne (oder es schneit). Einziger Nachteil: man kann nicht wählen.

Zum Glück gibt es sowas hier auf Island nicht. Aber wozu sollte man hier auf Island auch die Sommerzeit brauchen. Immerhin ist es jetzt schon fast bis 20:00 hell
Der Sinn und Zweck (Energieeinsparung) wurde ja oft beschworen, aber aufgrund dessen was so bekannt wurde (danke FDP), kommen selbst mir inzwischen Zweifel.

In Germany we are calling changing weather “April weather”. Here in Iceland you get the whole spectrum of “April weather” compressed in one day. Hail outside? Nah, just wait five minutes and it’s either rain or sunshine instead (or snow). Only downside, you cannot choose.

The fixes in DDKWizard are minor except for one. This one requires manual fixing in old existing projects that have been created using DDKWizard. The problem is described in section 5.1 “Important change in version 1.1.1b”.
As for DDKBUILD there was a bug that prevented users from calling it from inside a long path containing spaces. This has been fixed.

A two-part video at Youtube ([1], [2]) – and more can be found under the search term “Jesus Camp” – gives a frightening insight into the insanity of evangelicals or Christian fundamentalists as a whole. I wonder whether any one of these preachers or their “sheep herd” actually read the bible or larger parts of it.
The interesting part of it is, that one of the methods employed to bring these children (!) to “faith” is known as mass-hypnosis. This is clearly visible for anyone who has actually had a look into books dealing with the matter. While children can be easily manipulated even without hypnosis, things are a whole lot easier for the manipulators once they are in trance. There are many ways to convey subliminal messages (messages to the subconcious part of our minds) and this is one of the more effective ones, especially for children. Once I get a crowd into hypnosis and they are willing or being made “willing” by other means before (i.e. scaring them for hell awaits thee if you don’t believe) I could even convince them of the existence of Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I wonder whether this is an official statement on behalf of Lavasoft. Alright, there have been other statements from the PR spokesperson which are not much better, but this one is really frightening (emphasis mine):
That being said, we are very aware that you do not want a process that, seemingly without reason, hogs precious system recources — We do not want that either. Please but bear in mind, however, that this is beta software, and the program has yet to find its final form, both in terms of features and in terms of what it requires of your system in order to run.

Apparently “defiance” got a job at Lavasoft. Congratulations, “defiance”. However, “defiance”, I think your Swedish is fairly bad for a Swede or you did ignore the local press ([1], [2]). Or maybe you deliberately chose to be blind? Google yourself for “Job Lavasoft 2007”, your blog has been indexed. A friend of mine already pointed out that the “Division by zero” error on the comment page suggests that infinitely many people tried to warn you, but probably you just didn’t approve the comments … anyway. Good luck with the job – hope you’ll have more than I had (and still have).
