North Korea committed its first nuclear weopons test today. Oops, Mr. Bush junior, what now? Invade them or not? It’s a hard decision since the lifes of many US-Americans could be endangered – a horrible situation given the fact that a US-life is by magnitudes more valuable than the life of a North Korean citizen or the life of any non-US citizen.
Let me state it clearly: I condemn all nuclear weapons tests and usage and to this date there was only one nation who used the A-bomb under war conditions! Sadly this nation, which has once helped to free my country from the Nazis, has been taken over in 2000 by a president who was rather declared president than elected as such. The horrible events in September 2001 created such an aftermath that the previously declared president was finally elected in 2004. Strangely a quote from Hermann Goering, the man at Hitlers side fits the situation quite well …
Why, of course, the people don’t want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship.

Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.
Can the North Korean nuclear weapons test be seen as a step towards self-defense by the same conditions that existed during the cold war between Soviet Union and United States of America? To a certain extent I think it can be seen as such. Nevertheless it creates new dangers for everyone on earth, for humans and environment likewise.
Make this insanity stop! Stop the US from further invading countries for fun and profit, so even “rogue states” can exist without fear … to each Führer his Nürnberg.
